Our Story

Yarbrough Homestead is...
A family farm committed to honoring God’s good creation
by taking dominion with gratitude,
faithfully working with the land
to produce good food for our community,
to a thousand generations.

Our goal is to raise beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and eggs that are the healthiest and tastiest around and glorify God while we do it.

We do this by providing our animals with rich diets of fresh grass, forage, and high quality feed, plenty of room to stay active, increased sanitation by frequent moves to fresh, unsoiled ground, and low stress environments.

This allows us to avoid using antibiotics, vaccines, hormones, and other pharmaceuticals.

We've been farming this land since the early 70’s when Papa turned the overgrown fields he bought into the open pastures, ponds, and deep woods where he would raise his cows.  

Then in 2009 Travis learned about a different way of farming that focused on nutritional density, improving the land, and helping the farmers and their communities to flourish.

The next year we got started doing just that by raising our first batch of broilers (meat chickens), followed by a laying flock and getting a small herd of beef cows back on the farm. Since then we've also started raising pigs and turkeys.

We sell our meats and eggs directly to our customers right off the farm, at the local farmers markets and a couple order dropoff points, as well as a once-a-month home delivery for the Montgomery/Pike Road area.
